ive just tried that and now my pc won't even pick up the usb connection?

If you plug the BlackBerry into another computer is the result the same?  If you remove the battery from the BlacBerry (leaving it out) does the computer detect the BlackBerry smartphone when plugging it into the computer with a USB cable?

Just like to say thanx for your help but ive sorted it i tried a new usb lead and its working fine now..

Go to Device Manager and uninstall the driver for Blackberry SmartPhone under the Universal Serial Bus controller while your BB is plugged in. Then unplug the USB from your BB. Now that it has been unintalled - plug the BB back into the PC and it will recognize new hardware and reinstall the required driver
