switch data from 8900 9320

Hi,
Confused and frustrated !
I'm trying to swtich all data from 8900(4.6.1.133) to 9320 (7.1)
Do I need to install two different versions of the desktop manager ? Or if I install the most recent version, will it work on the old 8900

How do I go about this swiftly

Thanks guys !!

Re: switch data from 8900 9320

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

There is only one Desktop Software to install, and it works for all devices. You can sort of customize it by also installing, to your PC, the BB Device OS package for your BB, but that's not required in most cases. So the answer is that one installation of the Desktop Software will work with both BBs. You should, of course, be using the most recent version of the Desktop Software.

To accomplish what you desire, this KB is quite useful:

  • KB23677 How to switch devices using BlackBerry Desktop Software

Good luck!

Re: switch data from 8900 9320

Yes, that is correct. The Desktop Software checks your BB when you connect it, and then searches the Internet for compatible OS package and updates to offer you. The Desktop Software is capable therefore of "remembering" multiple devices...in my setup, I have it remembering two PlayBooks and two BlackBerry devices...four in all. No problems.
