technical problem taking vocal calls & making vocal calls

when I take a call (or make one) the system blocks (but not always ) my listening, this can be overridden by switchting to the outside speaker (but this is embarassing among other people)

this is not happening all the time

solution ?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

First -- Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.


If the behavior clears up for a while, but returns later, then you likely have a memory leak in some app that is ultimately causing this behavior. The temporary cure would remain the batt-pull reboot -- in some circumstance, some folks choose to reboot their BB daily just for such problems.


Otherwise, it'd be a matter of determining what the offending "leaky" app is...to narrow that down, you'd want to first boot into Safe Mode and run that way for long enough to determine that the behavior does not happen:

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient.


If the behavior happens while in Safe Mode, then it is not any 3rd party app as none of them run in Safe Mode. Rather, it would be your core OS with some corruption or memory leak, requiring an OS reload to clear up. If the behavior does not happen while in Safe Mode, then you could try removing your add-on apps one at a time (and rebooting the BB each time) and again running for a while to determine if the behavior happens...when it does not, you know the culprit (the last one you removed).


The process is quite tedious, and has no guarantee of any success. If, for instance, the issue is hardware, then nothing we can do will be helpful...such can only be properly diagnosed by a qualified technician with the device in their hands.


If you decide to proceed with any of the above, please advise which you are trying...and post back with those results. If you ultimately get to the point of needing to perform the OS reload, post back as well and we'll be happy to provide you some useful guidelines to use.
