tried all suggestions but still no battery life!

Been reading all the battery life issues and tried everything except replacing the actual phone itself.

My torch 9800 is a year old. When I got it I had facebook and twitter apps and nothing else.

Within 6 months my battery wouldn't last a whole 24 hours even when no 3g just wifi. (No 2g or 3g where I worked)

In the last month with no 2G or 3G or even bluetooth or wifi turned on and the battery would barely last 8 hours. Seriously I was only using the phone as an alarm clock at work where there was no wifi or cell coverage.

Last week with only 2G/3G turned on it would only last 3-4hours at best.

3 days ago I got a replacement battery. My torch still cannot last more than 8hours. Better than 3-4hrs I suppose. 4GB media card that I recently cleared almost completely. Again only facebook and twiiter apps. Up to 4 calls a day but airtime less than 15 mins total. Checked CPU usage and total app time used is less than an hour with rest of the time being 'idle time'.

What is wrong? Software up to date. Brightness has been set at 10 with backlight going off after 10s. Not using the camera or loading pictures. Occasional browing of mobile versions of BBC and CBC to read the news.

Could it be the actual phone? Even near the death of my curve I never had such terrible battery problems.

Any other suggestions? Please! I love my blackberry but its virtually useless as even just an alarm clock if it can't stay charged!

Re: tried all suggestions but still no battery life!

It seems like you've been very extensive in your efforts. You've hit on everything I would have suggested. With it being more than a year, your warranty would have expired by now. Smiley Sad

Maybe it's RIM's secret way of saying it's time to upgrade. Smiley Happy

Re: tried all suggestions but still no battery life!

Ya well I was smart I think by buying like an extra warranty for $7 a month because I can get the phone replaced even if wrecked it myself!

I suspect it may be the case that I need to actually replace the phone.

Thank you anyway Smiley Happy
