upgrading software version to 5.0.0. What does the warning mean on the summary

The warning says

"Once completed, you must activate your device wirelessly to continue to send and receive email messages and use other blackberry servives. If you do not want to continue click cancel"

What does this mean and why might I not wish to proceed.

What does activating your device wirelessly mean and will that affect my current e-mail set up?

I have a Bold from Telstra and I am only connected to my own computer and get my own personal e-mail on the phone and not from some external server.

That warning is mainly for BES users.  You will be fine.  Upgrade away!
