HI, I really need some advice,
i had a error message appear on my curve 8520, i looked it up on the forums, and found out that i needed to do
a software wipe of my phone, which i did, i then downloaded the OS v5, and then loaded it on to my bb
everything has gone to plan and it is working fine, EXCEPT the wirless connection seems not to be working ?
plus when i did the download, app world didnt download, i had todo this sepratley,and i have no connection to that either.....it tells me : BLACKBERRY WORLD IS HAVING TROUBLE CONNECTING TO THE WORLD SERVER, VERIFY YOUR CONNECTIONS AND TRY AGAIN ;
So i dont seem to beable to connect to a wirless network,i have checked all my settings etc they all seem to be ok,
so im thinking i have put the wrong OS on my bb, as i cant connect to facebook, app world, whats app ,
Can anyone help me with this, as i really do feel i should download a more recent OS, v6-v7,im not sure which one would be okay to install, PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE WITH ANY SUGGESTIONS , PLEASE

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
First...calm down...this is not really an emergency, is it?
Second...you could not have installed the wrong OS...it's actually impossible to do so. You could have installed a defective OS, or perhaps an installation that went wonky...but the wrong OS, no, not possible.
After any OS update or anytime services go wonky, I always recommend this.
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should consider other alternatives, including contacting your mobile service provider for formal support...they are 100% responsible for delivery to you of ALL services, and only they can provide formal support (with access to their systems to try and diagnose truly why this is happening to you...no one here, in this user-to-user community, has any such access).
If you wish to try with the OS, then the simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
You may also need the use of these tricks:
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
Good luck and let us know!
