About warranty for Playbook

Hi there,  I just happen to find out that I need to purchase a warranty in order to have my Playbook serviced.  Now, I contacted Office Depot, where I purchased the tablet over 3 months ago, come to find out I have to get an extended warranty in order to get my Playbook serviced.  It has been heating up while I browse the web after 10 minutes.   Therefore,  Office Depot does have a warranty to cover the problem.  Right now, I cannot afford to get a warranty because of cost.   Oh, I happen to find out it takes over a week for a box to arrive by mail, so that I can mail my Playbook in to get it serviced.  Hence, probably over a 3 week period before I even have my Playbook back in my hands.  So, I'll just  continue to  browse the web  quickly.   Everything else works fine with my Playbook, so that's a good thing(as I cross my fingers!)

Even though you are out of your free first three months warranty, I'd still encourage you to call RIM's PlayBook support direct, and deal with them.




They have been extra good about serving PlayBook warranties after the three month period. For free.

+1 to what JSanders said, I had a charger issue about 5 months after I purchased my first PlayBook, and RIM sent me a new charger free of charge even though the warranty was up.

after 13 months, my camera stopped working and RIM sent me a new PlayBook

Thanks for your reply. So I just call the number for the United States. I will try and see what happens. I hope I have the .correct number.
