Anyone got gapless MP3 playback?

I've copied a bunch of MP3s and converted some OGG audio onto the PlayBook.

Now, I'm not sure if anyone at RIM appreciates a good live album, or even a Pink Floyd one - but I get gaps between all of my tracks.

Has anyone got MP3 files and manages to get a smooth transition between tracks?

No, there is no gapless playback on the playbook.

Re: Anyone got gapless MP3 playback?

This is a major pain for me. I have 1000s of MP3s that were built as mixes for me by DJs which play gapless with iTunes on my PC or on my iPod. The short gap (less than 1 second) is jarring on the Playbook. Mind you Windows Media Player also screws this up. I think that only Apple understands the idea of gapless MP3s!

Windows, nokia phones and the faster blackberry phones (bold series) also do gapless.

Re: Anyone got gapless MP3 playback?

There must be some setting in WMP that I have not discovered then. I don't use my BB for music (company phone) but the iPod Touch works great. What started the discussion here is the lack of gapless playback on the Playbook, which is something RIM can and should fix.

Re: Anyone got gapless MP3 playback?

Exactly.

I think that it's fair to say that the power of the PlayBook should allow it to calculate gaps in MP3s on the fly without any problems.

And the iPod touch doesn't strictly do gapless playback. iTunes finds the gaps and stores them in a database on the iPod so that it doesn't have to do any work (it doesn't even need to read the MP3 tags).

Frankly, I think it would be a poor implementation on the PlayBook as it would stop us from being able to drag and drop files freely, knowing they'd appear correctly in the audio player.

And yes, it is a big deal for some of us Smiley Wink
