I would suggest doing a restart on the PlayBook first.. (touch the battery icon > Restart) and then after reboot, connect to WiFi and try again.

I experienced the same problems installing a large app a few months ago. I ended up deleting some apps (temporarily) to free up some space on my PlayBook. After I installed the large app, I reinstalled the ones I deleted. Everything worked fine afterwards. PlayBook probably needed the extra space to work during the installation.
