uhhhh rather than jump on the charger wagon so soon I'd look around for a micro usb cable to usb.
Plug in cable to pc and see what happens.
If none of this works sure use the rapid charger
Jaysus, please look again at the first post.. The centre part of the socket, the bit with the contacts, has fallen out. No amount of new cables will help. In any case a pc usb will not charge playbooks unless in standby.
Yes deborah like Jsanders said Amazon has plenty. It's one of those times when mail order has to be used.

There seems to be two main causes.
1. You live in a country not supported by Playbooks - in your case not ghe cause
2. Cannot connect to wifi properly.
Tackling no 2, i would...
Hold down the power button on playbook for 20seconds, it will shut down.
Find the reset button for the wireless router in your home and reset the router which usually means holding the reset button in for ten or more seconds. Wait for all the lights to come back.
(Alternatively go to another wifi location.)
Turn on playbook by pressing power button briefly and try again.

Going back to the thread title, does anyone know for definite that the Playbook is being discontinued?
I bought one last February and am well pleased with it, as i only want it for e-mail, browsing and grandchildrens games, and now both grandsons want one of their own. I am in the UK and they are available but i do not want to lock my grandkids to a defunct item or system.
Should i wait and see them dissappear or buy them and get caught?
Unfortunately Blackberry are turning customers away by not being upfront especialy as they are now looking at the furure of the whole company.

Define "discontinued". They stopped production in 2012. They have said no more operating system developments. They are looking for a buyout or privatisation to survive. Currys and carphone warehouse dropped them.
For the same money look at the new Nexus 7.
