Hi, what Twitter, Facebook is concerned, they're already propriatory installed. A lot of others can at least be installed by sideloading, if it comes to android. I'm not a gamer, by sideloading i insalled f.e. Whatsapp, , add some simpler games.
Wbat is true and why your question is serious (even if this is a PB/BB-community), is that blackberry neither produce this device nor give any assistance nor updates. Anyhow there are recently roumors, that BB might offer a new Playbook in 2015! And if you take in account, that when playbook apperared in 2011, is was technically in the forefront of any other tablet (incl. IPad). It simply failed, because iPad was more SEXY an far better marketed with a great bunch of Apps and then very short followed by OS Android, much lower prices for those tablets and as well with a lot of Apps. If I were in your place and could wait up to end of this year (for more info of a hopefully new PB) - I'm sure, that new OS10 PB can be a shooting-star, if price, marketing, design and facilities were on top of what you then will find on the marketplace. And don't forget, even today most of the PB-users love and use their PB until today! Ask the users of the first iPad what has meanwhile happened with their device?
To make a long story short: I in your place would wait until this years end - and then decide for an Android-tablet!!

Android has meanwhile more apps than Apple. And you can find android apps in more stores (even besides Google and Amazon). So again, if BB would not offer a new PB in 2015 I myself would decide for Android.

Opinions are great... but still, one's best answer is according to what the device will be used for, primarily.
Who cares if one app system has more apps. 10,000 pooting apps doesn't make the actual hardware better.

I have all these... IPad 3, Playbook and Nexus 7 (son's). The IPad is my personal choice but them again I am pro MAC... However, the new Nexus 7 has gotten excellent reviews! Unfortunately the Playbook has reached it's lifespan because blackberry has abandoned it. I like it... I enjoy using something other than my IPad and like it more for the feel... It has a nice texture, but then I put on an otterbox on it!! It's a nice size... Has potential, I just wish they kept advancing it.
