After restarting the PB and turned off wifi and Bluetooth I managed to reconnect my PB to the BB Desktop. Still had problem with backup. One should not have to have this many problems and pre-requisites.

That is what I tried to do. No need to save stuff I already have in my PC. I managed to save/backup settings. When I tried to include application data, it failed.

If your PB cant connect to the pc or if u dont have a drive in explorer of your pb, then the problem ist that the driver is not loaded. Go to device manager, you should see that the driver is not properly loaded. you have to uninstall the driver. then connect the pb again. the driver should be installed again automaticaly. after few seconds you will have the drive letter. you should also install the blackberry device manager again.
now it should work

I can't understand why the system cares about unwanted/deleted 'core applications' of the Playbook? e.i. I do not care for Hotmail, I deleted it. Now what am I 'penalized'?. As far as I am concerned it is bug.

Unfortunately from day one the core applications if deleted will show an update to the current version. Hopefully it will be fixed in 2.0
