Bold 9900 wifi connection issues

Help! We are on vacation, and brought an old dlink router from home to hook up to a rental wimax modem. Our laptop and my hubby's older Bold connect easily, but my connection keeps flipping off and on every few seconds. Have reset the router and pulled the battery on my Bold - gets it to work for a little while and then back to off/on. Help!
