My USB Port for my blackerry palybook appears to have stopped working and under closer inspection a couple of the pins are knackered.

I need assistance on how I go about repair my USB port and the associated costs.

Any help welcomed.

Re: Broken USB Port on Playbook

Crucial you say what country you are in.

I am guessing UK in which case if retailer will not cooperate it's cheaper to go to currys and buy a new one.  You can live without usb if you use wifi sharing and desk charging dock.

In canada/usa you have much better servicing centres

Re: Broken USB Port on Playbook

Thank you

Yes I'm UK based.

Unfortunately the supplier in no longer in business and the unit is outside the 1 year manufacturer warranty.

What buy a new playbook? or a new micro usb port and get it fitted?

I guess I can look into the magnetic charging dock

Cheers

Lever the back off with a credit card or similar pry tool and take a look. I believe the 3 sockets are moulded in one piece. Would rim supply it and can you strip and microsolder it? If not you are looking at a workshop repair across the pond and I am just saying it may be more than the £109 for a new 16GB playbook.
