Please explain what you mean by Total restore using desktop. Is that from the the backup/restore menu or a forced update using the debrick method?
Sounds like a total debrick update or security wipe from ghe Settings menu is required which will delete all data and software and reload the current OS.
Total debrick:- this requires pb disconnected and completly shut down. Start up desktop software and connect the pb whilst still shut down. After the error message quickly accept the invitation to Update. It will take a while.
