At least you know it is not the .668, in fact it is a good update, wish I had it. It sounds like hardware.
The advice is the same.
Do a backup, preferably by drag and drop to folders on the PC, then a complete reload of the OS using the USB debrick method. In your case it would revert to .358 version. You will LOSE ALL YOUR DATA in a debrick.
If the camera still does not work, it's hardware fault, so contact RIM, or your seller, or a repairer depending on your local laws and warranty status.
New Playbooks are currently as cheap as a repair and quicker to obtain.

Thanks a lot for assistance received from isers. Never got an answer from manufacturers. However we all know this a failure of the playbook. The most affected users are those who, like me, do not live in the US and therefore have no access to service.
Personally I am migrating to IPHONE and IPAD and will never buy other Blackberry device.

@calmox, I wasn't replying to you, but back in june you reported your cameras were fixed by a simple reinstall. What happened?
If you don't want any more emails, remove subsciption to this thread. good luck with apple. Just as good as BB.

BlackBerry your criminals, you want charging with thief. You've took over a $1000 dollars from me because I was foolish enough to buy 4 x PlayBook for my children . Since they birthday the cameras worked for 1 week, then one by one all stop working, 8 months ago. I have so much to tell you but you probably won't post it, so i'll say this "blackberry you're never get my hard earned money every again" .

JayKay53 - Don't throw in the towel and don't despair - frustration has set in which I can sympathize with) but if you give up, it wins and your perseverance loses. Chances are your batteries have discharged in most of the cases. Most likely from not shutting down the device fully but rather than putting in into standby mode (which depletes the battery since Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections are still active).
By the way, the people here in this community are really good people (usually) who just do this so they can help out. Some are paid but some of us are just enthusiasts (like me). I think at least in some of the cases, we can resurrect your PlayBooks. I would bet that a full wipe and install of the one with the camera issue would remedy itself too.
So lets stick this out and try baby steps first. First thing we have to do is get power to the devices. JSanders has had a great track record getting these PlayBooks back from "death" so let me see if I can find some of his replies in other postings to assist you.
One PlayBook at a time, I am confident we'll get SOMETHING working for you.
You can speed up your cause by doing some searching through the other threads on here or out on the Internet using Google. The answers are out there. Other people have overcome this. So can you if you want to.

I'm from Vietnam, and I got the same problem.
When I upgrade to OS 18.104.22.1688, front & back cameras not work, and the notification is "Camera is use, close any other instances of the camera and try again."
I hope OS 22.214.171.1242 can fix it, but the other error is "Camera error 4003".
And my PB is warranty expired. So how can i get the support from RIM? Plz help..

Hi, I've been having the same problem for almost a year now. I think EVERYONE who has had this problem would really appreciate if someone could figure out a solution (preferably from blackberry themselves). This is getting absolutely ridiculous.
There is currently NO SOLUTION.
I have tried a security wipe, re-downloading the OS, etc. Nothing has worked so far.
Thanks, and I really would like to see a reply to one of the many threads with this problem.
