Cannot set up playbook, no country appears to select from

I'm getting very frustrated here, I bought a new playbook for my daughter and cannot set it up. I have tried all the various fixes suggested but have come up empty. How can I get it to work ? I'm very close to returning the playbook and getting a refund.

What have you tried? Otherwise, we're probably going to start by recommending those things you'll say you've already done.

 

Such as... have you been able to connect to a WiFi hotspot for the initial setup BEFORE selecting the country?

 

Have you tried to reset the Playbook... hold down the power button, Up and Down volume keys (all three) at the same time about ten seconds to restart the Playbook, and try again.

Hi, I've tried the hotspots, I've also tried to reset  it. I'm in the UK and have tried to connect via my wi-fi router at home- nothing. I'm becoming very frustrated as this was a gift for my daughter.

First have you downloaded a copy of the user manual to your PC ?

which also has helpful guide explaining what to do.

also to help - I found using connect manually for WiFi easier
Just enter your Router SSID and wireless key (aka - password)

then then enter your ISP log-in details.

Hi Thanks for those suggestions. I've tried those without any success. My head is beginning to become sore with all the banging against the wall I'm doing ! lol

one more suggestion - See if there are any PlayBook setup tutorial videos on YouTube.

So let me clearly ask THE question again... You have not yet even connected to a WiFi hotspot?

 

Because as I mentioned above, the WiFi connection will come before the country selection. So if you're banging your head looking for the country selection, you will not see it until you get the WiFi connected.

 

...Just so you can re-focus to what really needs to be done, first.

Follow what JSanders is telling you. He knows what he is talking. Go to a mcdonalds or starbucks hotspot.
