Gotta brand new playbook yesterday and started updating my PB with the fresh OS but due to slow wifi it always got help up in between. Tried updating full day today and its showing cannot connect to the update server (2011). What the hell gota a new playbook and cant use it. What do i do? HELP?
hmm... this thread is about a different (3000) error code.
Anyway, no need to get upset.
Press and hold the power key for 20 seconds and restart the Playbook.
Notice, are you able to connect to WiFi?
Is the Wifi router protected by a password?
Can you find a NON-protected WiFi source and connect and complete the setup?

Im sorry I didnt mean to offend someone. Im just assuming that BLACKBERRY had read this forum so they may know what we felt as their customers.

First of All .. the BB update Server had never been down for that long time. Practically speaking, it couldn't be an Update Server availability issue.
second, I'm not sure how anybody tried to ping some URL. Did you try from the Playbook itself?
Finally, I guess the contribution from JSander is in the right track. Please double-check your Wifi. A Hard Reset can do the trick. If not, you can try deleting and re-creating the Wifi connection.
One last trial, this is for the people of Saudi arabia and emirates only as you're connecting to a special BB servers. Try setting a proxy server for your Wifi - pick any US free Proxy server from a Google search - and re-test your connectivity. This is a slow way but even gives great results as it downloads many applications like Video Chat, Music Store ...etc
