Desktop software freezes

Hi,

I hope someone can please help me.

I have a Blackberry Torch 9800 and a Playbook. Both my OS are up to date and I have the latest version of desktop software installed. I am running Windows 8 64 bit with all the latest updates installed.

I can connect my phone to my laptop and sync / backup etc ok but as soon as I connect my Playbook the software freezes, With the desktop software open I have the ' connected to computer' screen on playbook but the laptop cant/wont connect and I just get a message suggesting some things to try non of which work...

Help please.......

Hi,

Thanks for that, I have tried all th things suggested in your links but still wont work.

My phone works fine ( Torch 9800) but playbook wont play !!  I can get it to work fine on my old tower pc running XP but like so many things Windows 8 wont let it work !!

I was going to recycle my pc for my grandaughter but may have to go to plan B.

Below is a link to a screenshot of my laptop message,,

Oh THAT message, it's the one you normally get when you connect a playbook which is turned off.  If you select update it will wipe your playbook.  maybe your microUSB socket is damaged on the power pins.  but then it would not work on xp.

Re: Desktop software freezes

Thats what I thought so I have tried three different usb leads and all the sockets on my laptop so I am still stumped but as it it works on my pc that probably wont be the cause,,,oh and I clicked update ,saw the warning message so cancelled pdq,,,

Re: Desktop software freezes

I would just use Wifi sharing to move files and backup important downloads, which is usually accessible on Win 8 and is almost as fast as the Playbook's USB.
