Direct sync with camera

I have googled this quite a bit and all the threads seem to be quite old.

I have just bought a PB as a travel companion and would like to add photos directly from my camera while out and about.

From what i can tell there doesn't seem to be a way of doing this without using a PC.

Can anyone help or suggest a workround?

This claims to work but does it?

There is "currently" no method of directly syncing your PlayBook to your camera. A computer will need to be used (at least at this time). The PlayBook lacks USBOTG (USB On the Go) capabilities http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_On-The-Go . The driver is actually in the OS but it has not been enabled. This is something we all want to have happen but it simply does not work right now.

You used to be able to do this with a rooted tablet in older OS releases but it invalidated your warranty and now with OS 2.0 and recently 2.1 this method no longer works: http://www.bbin.in/en/2012/01/howto-guide-for-blackberry-playbook-usb-hosting-connecting-external-hd...
