My playbook just froze after the reboot of the latest patch of 4MB (i dont recall the exact version) It is frozen at the black begining screen saying Blackberry Playbook right after the red light flashes "on". Nothing to do here but force reboot and it still refreezes at the same spot... 12times in a row now. It is also not recognized via USB therefore doing anything through pc does not work... Do i have to bring it back already..?

Please understand, we're all new at this too, and we're volunteers, not RIM techical staff.
Are you holding down the power button 10 seconds to turn it off and then back on? Try leaving it off for a full 5-10 minutes and power back on, while connected to the charger.
Meanwhile, yea, if it were me, I'd be making plans for an exchange pretty soon.

Yes i have just read through all the difficulties people have been having to make sure this has not been solved already, but it is also to advise people who's playbook is working as mine was that the newest 4MB patch is causing potential boot issues after the restart.

We had the same issue. We purchased 11 of these today and the second one we're currently on is now froze after it downloaded the latest software update (220.127.116.110). We had to hold down both volume keys (minus & plus volume keys) and the power button (all three buttons at the same time) to reset the device. That got us past the splash screen but it took several minutes to get past it. So after the reset wait up to 10 minutes.

Please see this thread on CrackBerry to resolvce this issue:
Look at page 7 and 8 for steps to resolve such 'freezing' issues. Not sure how RIM did not pass this particular bug through QA :-(

Latest BB Desktop version can "unbrick" it for you.
I too had the same problem as many on the forums, the playbook will continuously show the screen saver/blackberry playbook with the different colored circles.
Here is how I was able to fix it....
1) Turn your playbook off by holding down the power button
2) Let your playbook sit for about 10 minutes as earlier suggested.
3) After letting the PB sit (and still powered off) open up the Blackberry Desktop Software (the latest version)
4) Once the Blackberry Desktop Software is opened, power on the Playbook
5) A screen will show on your computer showing that the device cannot be found
6) Click on Update
7) Your computer will now download the much needed "debrick" file as talked about in earlier posts.
***NOTE*** I have tried to do this in several different ways, but the above method is the only one that worked. I hope this works.
As with all software/hardware, it takes time and patience to figure out the issue
