FRUSTRATED!

I got my BB PlayBook two weeks ago already and still can't use it!  It asks for a Software update but doesn't finish downloading and just says there has been an error and only options are to restart or switch off!  This is so frustrating!  Can someone please help me as to what to do?  I feel very technilogically challenged at the moment.  Is there a BB store somewhere in Johannesburg yet where someone would be able to assist me?? I bought the tab from Incredible Connection and evidently they are not trained to use these things as no one there was able to assist me!

Skip backup part and you should be good.

 

 

 

First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.

This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/

After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.

Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.

You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.

QUICKLY choose the Update option.

This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

Thank you so much for your quick response! I will definately try this right away. Gone are the days of switching on a device and voila, it works! :-(

Could just be your internet connection, mine failed before on an update

ok... completed download and started the software, but it wouldn't even pick up the device?

Sorry to sound really dumb, but is it supposed to show any progress when it is downloading the new BB Tablet OS on the Pc? ...cos it's not... has been hanging for a while now with nothing happening and now option to select or anything?

At work it was slow, at home it was fast.
