Re: Get BlackBerry Bridge for your BlackBerry

I spent the day with tech help at Verizon.  I lost the icon for  app world a few monthis ago, (after an udate) and I tried everything suggested in the forum and i stepped through most of the things again with Verizon Techs.  Now I'm also missing Bridge, so i can't use the bridge function of my PlayBook.

Today I did a security wipe, Verizon sent the latest service book and still no AppWorld icon and now no Bridge Icon.

I backed up to a time when I had the icons, and that didn't help.

Because Verizon couldn't find the cause, they connected me with Blackberry..  It was supposed to be at no cost because it was really a call by Verizon.  Here's what upset me.  Blackberry answered and when I told him it was a smart phone that was having problems, he said he attends to PlayBooks and I would have to call another number.  It would be a $50 call though.  He said the only way to get free support is to go back to Verizon and have them place the call again.  Phooey.  If I did't have the PlayBook (which i bought at initial price), I'd so quickly change from BlackBerry to almost any other smart phone manufacturer.

I wrote this just so you all know, Blackberry is as inflexible as any company I have ever come across.  It is hard to believe transferring a call from one specialist to another is so difficult and they would charge $50 to do it.

bridge software again and bloothtooth again and go to certain websites

Lloyd, I don't know, you didn't say, what all you've done, but what you've experienced is certainly not common. No idea what all icons on your BlackBerry smartphone you speak of.

Re: Get BlackBerry Bridge for your BlackBerry

Emsel, if you're having issues with your BlackBerry smartphone, Verizon tech support can help you and escalate your issue to RIM level tech support free of charge. Don't let them pull that $50 support fee on you.
If you're having an issue with your Playbook verizon can't help you. You need to call your Playbook support line.

on my smartphone and also playbook and kinda redo many things

over again...and also spent over an hour with Sasktel on the phone

it involved much that i didn't realize...In the smartphone it was a matter

Re: Get BlackBerry Bridge for your BlackBerry

Is the Playbook bridged to the phone?

I found tethering to be faster and more stable for remote internet access through the phone. The bridge mode is excellent for email, and for the other utilities.

I would guess you had no problems with using WiFi with the Playbook.

Re: Get BlackBerry Bridge for your BlackBerry

Hi craftylady. I'm new to this forum & new to the playbook with OS v2. I also have a torch on AT&T. I was happily tethered before AT&T blocked browsing. I have the smallest data plan with 300mb for $20 per month. Work is the only place I frequent where I don't have wifi access so I don't need a very large plan. Their smallest plan that allows tethering is 5GB for $50 per month! That's more than 10 times more data than I need, and would be like getting change for a $50 bill, keeping $5 of it, and throwing the other $45 in the trash! These large expensive data plans appear to be designed for mobile hotshot use supporting 5 devices. The BBC bridge app isn't creating a mobile hotshot. From my understanding, it connects just 1 smartphone to 1 playbook concurrently. I started shopping other carriers & they seem to be following AT&T's lead by requiring the mobile hotshot plan in order to use the bridge app for browsing.

Am I misinterpreting any of my findings? Are there any US carriers who don't require expensive mobile hotspot plans to use BB bridge to browse? Are there any carriers creating specific BB bridge add-ons for this specific 1:1 connection that doesn't require any additional data use? Is BB working with the carriers to find a reasonably priced solution so they don't lose anymore marketshare on both the smartphones & the tablets? I'm pretty frustrated about this, & considering returning my playbook, switching wireless carriers, and canceling my AT&T Uverse tv & Internet but I really want this to work as designed because I really like it!
