I've used Google Maps on my Playbook before, but today for some reason it is not working. Any referral to Google Maps (direct by choosing the Map option in Google, or by clicking a link on a website) results in a hang of Google. An initial map displays, but a "loading" message appears below the address bar; it is not possible to zoom or to shift the map, or to do anything in the window. Have to close the browser and reopen.

Are you able to browse other websites ok?
Are you using the "Map App" on AppWorld, for Google Maps?

Ah beat me to it.. I have just recently purchased my playbook and my first visit to google maps resulted in the same result Ron.
All other websites are fine and no not using any app, just directly on the website.

Same behaviour here (new PlayBook purchased just a few days ago).
I note that Google Maps doesn't actually hang the browser as a whole. (You can open a new tab and it runs just fine.) I also notice that the second pulldown in Google Maps (the one that has Traffic, Photos, Weather etc.) is not populated, so I suspect something about it is what is causing the hang.
I hope someone at RIM has taken note of this and is working to fix it.

>Google map sucks, you should try Bing instead
(1) Bing, for whatever its advantages and disadvantages, is not my preferred Internet mapping platform.
(2) The issue is PlayBook browser compatibility. If Google Maps works on every modern flavour of IE, Firefox, and Chrome, it points to a bug in the PlayBook browser.
Your answer no more belongs here than one suggesting that I should switch to an Android tablet instead.

I think the PB Browser's issue with Google Maps is caused by the Java Script.
I discover that if you turn off Java Script in the Browser/Content the freezing goes away and you can load Google Maps but it doesn't load the full map interface and only loads a small square!
I hope RIM can fix this or add full Sun Java support for the PB Browser which should let Google Maps work.
