I've been having an issue with my playbook since pre-OS2 where the messages app won't refresh / download new messages. When this happens, doing the scrollup/refresh won't work, closing and starting the app won't work, so i have to reboot the tablet and then mail will start flowing again.
I currently have the following accounts configured...
2 x google apps premier
1 x facebook

I also find the email app to be very unstable resulting in numerous reboots to get the native email client to become active again. I am running the latest OS and need to restart 2 to 3 times per day. It would be beneficial if there was a way to just "kill" the email app and restart the app. I find if I just close the email app it is still hung if I reopen the app. The only way to get it working again is with a system restart.
If anyone has any ideas of how to resolve this problem please let me know.

yes my issue exactly. Agree that an "app kill" ability would be a godsend since rebooting is painfullys slow.
Anyone know of a solution to this?

I am also having many issues with the mail app. It will not pull in all the messages and I know there are messages as I see numerous ones on my BB bridge
- it automatically deletes messages after a day or two,
- the options that are supposed to exist for this app are no where to be found.
- it will not sync my contacts with the contacts on my BB bold. I have to enter each one individually.
And finally - rebooting does not solve any of these issues - It simply is not working the way it is supposed to.

I have the same problem. However I find that if I turn off the WIFI connection for a few seconds then turn it back on, my messages load on to the PB.

Thank you - have tried your suggestion - still not working properly. Not getting some of the messages that I should, still deleted messages automatically. I have rechecked the account settings and advanced setting - these are correct.

Same issue and restarting the whole system is the only thing that works. Even that sometimes doesn't work. WIFi cycle does not help. I have 3 Gmail accounts configured but no other complexity. Simple email.
Messages app is not usable in this unreliable attention. I hope RIM comes up with a solution soon.
