Need PPTP VPN supported on playbook

Hi

Iam a new guy on playbook. I really like the look and feel of playbook. Before I purchased for 32GB playbook, I search the web and Iam sure that playbook support VPN connection.

But now I own a playbook, it is disappointed that Playbook does not support PPTP VPN. I really need it to work outside of company building.

Hopefully, the RIM corp will support all type of VPN. To make Playbook best in Play and Work

Re: Need PPTP VPN supported on playbook

Can other types of VPN be used? I know nothing about VPN but I'm curious to know if I could control my home computer (a mac) on my playbook, from a distance.

I know VNC works well for playbook with a PC. Not sure about a mac.

there is also logmein.com and gotomypc.com that work well too.

Re: Need PPTP VPN supported on playbook

How would I go about using the playbook to see and interact with a pc on another location? I'm really curious about this!

Re: Need PPTP VPN supported on playbook

I hope RIM will support this in the next software update. Control key server over third party website may not be safe. Thanks, in the meantime it is the only one possible choice I have known.

@ananda79
if you use the VNC protocol, you install a VNC server on your computer (Windows or Mac or Linux) and a VNC client on your PlayBook (for example aVNC). connection does not go through any third party website.

I don't know about other protocols.

Re: Need PPTP VPN supported on playbook

Hi

In app world, there is new free vnc client: IMT VNC, It works nicely. But you can not connect to private server located at the IDC without VPN connection.

If the server is public, it is certainly fine.

Thanks for your comments.
