Re: OS 2.0

The release date is Feb 17. The whisper date I had heard was Feb 21. In the meantime, carry on with the OS 2.0 vs everyone else conversation.

Seriously.

Upcoming rumors/events in the last 48 hours

* Amazon blocked video streaming to playbook on its site, blaming apple. (Comments: this speaks to OS 2.0 being a success, and also illustrates playbook's value to consumers when compared to the Amazon fire).

* iPad 3? WSJ pumping Apple again, and successfully. Apple's no longer a concern for RIM, because RIM has conceded defeat (inventory write-down, reported shipment count). This represents a marketing challenges for PB 2.0. I think the board, the CEO, and senior staff need to have a strategy session whilst playing the game 'RISK.' The territory to defend is at all angles, so the approach, especially with marketing, should recognize this multi-angled attack by competitors.

Now back to the countdown in D - 4........3...

My dog (Sam is his name) says the release date is the 21st.

Trust me, his prophetic and mathematical skillz are unequaled.

And that's as credible as any other source.

Re: OS 2.0

So in reality after all the (funny) remarks, no one really knows when it is... who is the "THEY" that say it is the 17th I wonder..

If it doesnt come down on the 17th then I will have no other choice than to wait till the 18 or 20 or 25 or 29th OR..............................................

Re: OS 2.0

Another 2 cents.... Like most of you I am eagerly waiting for OS2, but I have to say that inspite of the having to wait my PB is still an exceptional tool. The bridge releases me from having to take out my phone to check and respond to emails and i use several email accounts.

The current functionality of the PB meets my small business needs and as more apps have become available I have been able to take advantage of them. Not only do I use my PB for work but I also use if for church activities. I find myself having made the PB more integrated into my everyday life.

yes the things i expect or hear are coming soon such as: email and calendar would be great adds and so would the ability to use netflix and skype or any sort of video chat utility that supports the most common social applications.

As a work tool the PB is ahead of where the fruit people were when they first delivered their product..as a social tool the PB is limited.

I would hate to see this time in our electronic age begin to look like beta versus vhs or Microsoft versus Apple (the early years) or netscape vs microsoft....

In summary as a work tool the PB meets and exceeeds my needs especially for the price we got ours at. As a social tool i still go back to my laptop.... waiting to see if the new release can do more to release me from my laptop....

FYI I travel a lot and it is amazing how at times I can jest carry the playbook without lugging around the laptop especially at lunch or dinner meetings...
