Re: PlayBook Wi-Fi not working.

hi,

well unfortunately i have most likely same problem with your blackberry playbook, ...

it was working fine, then suddenly it won't connect to any wifi (protected or unprotected)

i just discovered, that it will work if and only if the blackberry playbook is place very near the router. side by side shall we say, it will definitely connect and get a valid ip address therefore i can go online, download games and access my facebook . but as long as i hold in and take it away from the router for just 1 meter, then it will not connect anymore. the playbook can detect any wifi no issue with that its just that it will not connect. same issue like you have, same error, we have 2 other playbooks, same from bblackberry same model, no issue, and we are usng the same router and same wifi name and pw. our 3 laptops no issue, same wireless connection, this is too much, im so upset, i can't use my blackberry playbook to go online, its less than 5 months old. os was updated, i had wiped out the device twice but im getting the same problem. i almost wanted to throw this blackberry playbook in the window.im so disgusted. i took care of it, carefully. no handling issue, it suddenly wont work with the wifi, if its not placed side by side on the router. can anyone help us???? im from philippines. sorry if i had wrong grammar.

because of it, we will think twice if we are going buy any blackberry device.... pls help us. we still trust you.

pls email me at, ronpwork@gmail.com if there is any solution to this.

Re: PlayBook Wi-Fi not working.

in addition to that, it could not be a router issue, cause we can also connect and can go online using all of our wifi phones. this happens in all wireless networks that i will connect to my blackberry playbook.

Re: PlayBook Wi-Fi not working.

Well, I'm not a technical person. My router wasn't supporting Wi-Fi connection. It was working on LAN. I got a new one. I'm sorry that I'll be unable to provide you with the solution.

My advise would be to get it checked from your dealer. My PlayBook also has some issues over Wi-Fi connection, but the range is well above 15-20 metres.

Re: PlayBook Wi-Fi not working.

The PlayBook likes 802.11g. It does not like 802.11n but some people are using it successfully. PlayBook also like Security Authentication WPA or WPA2 with Data Encryption AES. If you are using 802.11n, PlayBook does not support TKIP or WEP.

Re: PlayBook Wi-Fi not working.

thanks, i'll to chech those articles. however im wondering why it will not connect, to our wifi and other wifi network if the distance is more than 1 meter. otherwise if its place just beside the router it will connect and will be able to go online, but the weird thing is that it will detect any wifi longer range, it just wont connect if its not place side by side with the wireless device..... hmp but anyways thanks. our other two playbooks are working good on same wireless device that we have.

Re: PlayBook Wi-Fi not working.

but the big problem is, this was bought by my sister in canada, and im here in philippines... this playbook would become just merely be a music box, gaming only, cause it won't connect to any wifi,if its not place side by side with our router, so in order to get online i always need to stay beside our router, and can't use it in my room.....hmp.... what else i need to to? i strongly believe the playbook itself is having a problem. our other 6 wireless devices don't have that kind of issue.so its not an isp issue nor a router issue, its the blackberry playbook itself... hmp. tsk...
