PlayBook dies suddenly, battery goes dead

So I got home yesterday night and went to turn on my PlayBook... But alas, it seemed to have shut down. I could have sworn I had charged it the day before and hadn't used it all day, but chalked it up to a mistake on my part. Plugged in, waited, and eventually got it to boot with 0% battery. Charged up just fine.

Today, I didn't use the PlayBook at all. I just grabbed it to start using it (up around 90% I believe), and was doing just fine surfing the web for a half hour or so. All of a sudden, the browser froze. I tried closing it, but it was no use, it stayed greyed out and my available memory was down to around 75MB. Tried running other apps, they wouldn't even launch the window. Pressed the power button for a second and the screen turned right off (never experienced this before). Tried turning it on... Nada. Tried the power-mute reset, but nothing. No LED.

Waited a minute and pressed the power button again, and got the "plug -> lightning bolt" icon, as if it was dead! Plugged it in and waited 5 minutes with the greenish LED pulsing. Turned it on again and it booted, battery now shows 75%.

This is getting weird. Is this eligible for a warranty return/repair? Any thoughts? My wife's PB was having battery drain issues too, but we narrowed that down to being caused by her Hotmail account. She now has to check it on the browser.

I love my PB but it's still ridiculously buggy. The memory and app management are poor. Is anyone at RIM aware of these kinds of issues? I shouldn't have to reboot these things once to twice a week, this isn't OS5...

Re: PlayBook dies suddenly, battery goes dead

Ugh. Just noticed (and remembered from yesterday when I saw the same thing) that my saved Wi Fi profiles have all disappeared. Again. Weird, I'm really thinking this is a battery issue of some kind...

Well now I'm not having any problems, but my Wi Fi profiles are NOT being saved when I reboot the Playbook.

Should I really have to wipe the thing? Sigh. Here goes nothing.

Re: PlayBook dies suddenly, battery goes dead

I have not restarted mine or shut it down in weeks and my battery does not drain. I do have an EAS GMAIL account set up on it and never turn off wifi.

When you drained it before, did you power it off prior or have it in standby?

Re: PlayBook dies suddenly, battery goes dead

This looks like what I have been experiencing, too. I would add that when I turned off wifi when trying to figure out where the drain was, I had to reboot to reconnect with wifi. Hope someone has a magic bullet to fix this.
