Playbook (Flash write failure)?

Hello, hope someone can help.

 

My sons Playbook 16GB does not boot up and cannot be seen when connecting to a computer. It flashes a sequence of red lights when connected to a charger or computer. The sequence is one red flash, pause, then 4 red flashes. I have checked through forums for a solution and think the flashing lights may indicate a "Flash write failure".

 

If the problem is a Flash write failure, can it be fixed? or is the playbook dead?

Please try connecting your PlayBook to the wall outlet charger and WITH IT CONNECTED, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds and let us know what happens then.

 

If no reboot, please leave it connected a few more hours and try the same process again.

Thanks for the reply. This is what happens.

 

Connected Playbook to charger, (flashing red light sequence immediately starts). With it still connected to the charger I have held down the power button. The flashing lights stop, but it does not reboot. I have left it connected to the charger. Will try it again in a few hours.

Have tried again after leaving the playbook on the charger for the last few hours. It does not reboot, and is still showing the same red light sequence.

I would keep trying it. I've seen it take a couple days before it worked.

 

Every few hours, try the same process while still connected to the charger.

 

If still nothing, call your Playbook support number.
