I finally stack charged my playbook enough for it to fire-up and I now have a fully charged battery. Unfortunately, although I see all the icons nothing works: no swipes from the side, no drop down menus and no applications. All I can do is the hard reboot (which I have done 4-6 times). Any more and I risk doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. I am fairly new to the play book and to RIM products in general so I'm hoping for the newbie simple answer.

What you need to do, you have the 90 day free warranty for the new Playbook. You can registar your Playbook and call the toll free number for assistance. They will help you on what needs to be done, or replace your Playbook for a new one.
