Playbook dropped on the floor.Won't turn on!

[ Edited ]

Hi Guys,

I have dropped playbook on the house floor. It was on standby , about 50% charged.

Once picked up couldnt turn on. Tried reset the device via holiding up,down volume buttons altogether with power button. Just red light coming up for 2 sec.

If I press just the power button for longer, than red light comes up for 15 sec and dissappeard. It doesnt matter whether connected just to the electrical wall or to the pc via usb cable.

If the playbook connected to the pc , it shows up after 1 min that is connected to the pc and you can connect to new device , volume (ZSmiley Happy is in my example. You can check the folders with pictures and so on.

Have also downloaded the newest blackberry desktop software and it showing on this application that my playbook is charged 97% , software version 2.0.1(bundle 358)

I have tried several time press just the power button so the red light comes up for 15 sec and I believe as long as come up this means that is charging? Not sure whether I'm correct? But if the desktop app showing that is charged almost 100%?

Any idea how to troubleshoot and fix the issue?

Thanks You.

Hello!

I guess the issue is not in charging. May be you damaged LCD or internal LCD cable.

Well , yeah.. that's how this looks like. Something wrong with the lcd display. I thougt maybe some key combination or software update would sort the issue out,

thanks for the reply ,

I think the best way is to hand your PlayBook to service center.

Sounds like your Power Button on top may have been physically damaged and may be stuck in the off position. Wiggle it around lightly, maybe it will pop out a bit.

Re: Playbook dropped on the floor.Won't turn on!

If you are mechanically inclined, you can dismantle it and look around inside to see if anything appears out of place. Personally I am mechanically inclined but I would not open mine. Several posters on this forum have successfully taken theirs apart and fixed problems, the most recent being Knottyrope who is on the Site all the time. Look up his post or contact him. If your PlayBook is still under warranty, contact RIM. What country are you in?

Re: Playbook dropped on the floor.Won't turn on!

I would like to thank you for the advice.

I have just send him a msg to have look on the issue if has 1 spare min.

Wouldnt mind to open if I would know how to.. need  some info about that. It's a good idea to have look inside and checking wheather anything out of place as you said,

I'm currenty based in Poland but traveling a lot to Ireland. I think the closest support where eventually I will have to post to repair  is in UK as long as I'm aware.

Sorry it took a long time to reply. Grandson was here most of day hogging my PlayBook. When I get some cash, I will get him one so I can visit and hog it.
