Re: Playbook won't Charge!

I assume you're quoting from some instructional material there, with the first sentence. If so, the reason "it's best" to do that is simply because it takes longer to charge if your screen is on or the device is in use in some way (e.g. playing music), unless you are using the rapid chargers (which generally charge at the same rate whether the device is in use or not).

It's certainly not *necessary* to turn the thing off and, as I said, it actually cannot charge while actually OFF because it turns itself ON when you plug it into a charger (if the charger, connection, and device are all working properly, that is).

If you turn the device off, and plug it into the charger, and don't see any LED come on after a while then you know at least one of the charger, connection, or device is defective.

Check back the reply from rim.all you have to do is to call rim customer support and follow their toubleshooting steps.if its still wont charge your playbook, rim will replace the charger with the new rapid charger(not the same as the one originally comes with playbook).

Re: Playbook won't Charge! RIM Service

I am now in touch with the RIM representative and my Playbook will be sent in for repair.  Yes, the service and support are excellent.  I'll report back later about the final results.

Re: Playbook won't Charge!

Well, I'm not happy.  I have been on off in out every 2 min for 24 hours... charged and still no avail.  Guess I'll call RIM support.  and as soon as I get it going I'm SELLING IT. I can't go through this again.
