Reset Playbook

I got a second Playbook - my brother-in-law passed away and his wife gave it to me. He had a password on it and we do not know what it is or his e-mail. I have the original box etc, for it - can I reset the blaybook and start over with my data?

Make sure you are within wifi range and the playbook is charged.

Assuming you can't even get into the playbook and it's the power on password you don't know...

Enter any old password. It will say Password Required (2 of 10). Do this more than ten times. It may ask you to type in a confirmation word at some stage. Eventually it will self wipe.

After it has wiped and reinstalled the OS, set it up with your blackberry ID and it will become as your own playbook. Reinstall your own purchased apps for free in Blackberry World from your uninstalled list. Restore data from one of your backups

Or choose a new blackberry ID and buy new apps. Data cannot be restored to a different BBID.

You will lose all data from this playbook.
