Once wiped it is gone. The only way to see these images again is get them from some of his friends who were also at the Christmas show.

Here is some more advice. Whenever there is a Operating System update, do a full backup to your computer before downloading the update. I, personally have never lost any files during an update but some have. Yesterday someone on the forum had hundreds of photos of the damage Hurricane Sandy did in his area on his PlayBook and never did a backup. He did an update through the Desktop Manager which wiped his files prior to installing the new OS . He lost everything. So do a backup prior to updating the OS. It doesn't take long.

This is an entirely different topic, which is how to block those sites on the PlayBook. There is no tool for that currently on the PlayBook.

If I had to do that, I would look at the WiFi router and see if it is possible to add a software on it to block adult websites. It is not something easy from my perspective.

I do not know if there is such tool bundled on the iPad, but it does not seem so: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4213

also went in and asked at the shop today and they tried to sell me a 'cloud' system for £20.
Is this the same cloud system of which you speak?
thanks

A cloud system? For use in blocking certain websites?

a cloud system basically means having servers on the internet, that provide you a service wherever you can access a modern browser. For example Google Web Search is a huge cloud, and same for Hotmail.

What I am talking about is a software that you physically install on your personal home network, that will serve as the only way for your house to connect to the web. That software is called a proxy, and can prevent the devices that want to go on the internet to go on a given blacklist of websites (the "nasties" in your message). This can be installed on your WiFi router, but I do not know how.

Re: URGENT HELP PLS!. Aspergers son just pressed 'security wipe' on his playbook. Is all data lost????

Is the general consensus that the manual system is better than the cloud one?

2nd prob is: when we tried to start playbook up again this am (having accepted all data lost now) it is not happy!!!

When we first set it up it seemed fine: we connected up to our sky network and set a password and it was all relatively straightforward. but now it goes straight onto 'connect to wifi' page and we cannot get any other page to come up.   sky is now the only option. the 'security type' comes up as WPA padlocked symbol . it is not allowing us to connect up and it seems the password it the issue. it is possible ASD son has changed password but when I try a few diff ones he may have used (he doesnt know!) the connect box is greyed out so I cannot try any other except the original one which it wont accept?

hope this makes sense.

hoping for help as currently have useless item which we cant even 'start from scratch on'.  manager of local store where we bought it just said: 'cant get wireless connection here so cant help you'.  Grrr.

Please give further advice to this frustrated old technophobe and her sad son!.

So are you back to the initial setup for the PlayBook?

If you're not confident of the password, can you go to your Sky account and check that password for correctness?
