USB

I have a PlayBook purchased November 2011.  I did not purchase extended warranty.  My USB has not worked for about 6 months.  What are my options if I wanted it diagnosed and/or repaired?  I recently downloaded the air browser so I can manipulate files and I can link to my laptop via Windows.

Re: USB

You can call RIM and see if they can repair it for you for a fee. However, at the current price level of Playbooks I'm certain it would be much cheaper (and easier) to just buy a new one.

That said, you may be able to find a private repair facility that can replace the USB port. However, i can't imagine that process costing any less than about $75-$100.

Re: USB

My fear was that would be the case as far as cost.  I got frustrated when I called RIM.  They could not find my initial registration for my phone, and between a bad connection and the accent of the gentleman who answered, our attempts to communicate were trying to to say the least.  He also insisted on checking warranty and I said I conceded there would be none left.

Re: USB

I'm 99% certain the cost to have RIM fix it would exceed what you can purchase a replacement for. You should have contacted them six months ago. At this point I'd recommend just replacing it unless you can fix it yourself.
