When I attempt to log in to Blackberry App World on my Playbook, or when I attempt to load an app update, I receive the message "Unable to start App world due to error 2". A search of the knowledge base and forums does not seem to address this issue. Any suggestions?

You should try to restart the device by tapping the battery at the top right and then choose restart, or if it still does the error, try to hold the power button for 20 seconds and then just press to restart
BTW the security wipe could help, but then you will lose every thing that you have on the Playbook

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, tried both of those suggestions.....and I'm trying to stay away from the wipe, but its looking like its gonna have to happen!
If you get to that point, (hopefully not), I would suggest that you use the debrick method instead as it will reload the entire OS, the security wipe only reset the current OS and it might keep any corruption that might occur to the OS

De-brick method? Please help, how do you do this?
First do a backup because you will lose every thing on the Playbook
Then unplug the Playbook from the computer and make sure that you are using the latest version of the Desktop Manager on your computer.
Turn off the Playbook
With the Desktop Manager running, plug the Playbook into the computer without turning it on
On the computer you will see a message saying that it can not communicate with the Playbook, on that message there is a button that says UPGRADE, click on it then after that REPAIR, and INSTALL
This will reset the Playbook to the factory setting, so you will have to redo all the initial setup

if you are unable to start your app world on ur bb smartphone. u just need to go to brouser on ur handheld and type http://mobile.blackberry .com then click on visit blackberry app world then download blackberry app world then download now then select your language and click on download and replace with the latest version. your app world will be upgrated automatically to latest app world version. after the completing ur download u get prompt on ur handset screen Restart. click on restart.
no firmware updation or wipe required.
after the restarting ur device. your App World will be work surely.
