The amount of "wet" involved is quite minimal. Wetting the skin is a fine light spray, and any excess is squeegeed out and wiped up. Skinomi does recommend the unit be shut down and unplugged for the application and cure period, a few hours, but overnight is better.
The real advantage to a wet application is the skin is "mobile" enough for very fine adjustments and best yet, it is removable in case of dirt or bubbles caught during the application. Peel back the skin, remove the dirt/bubble and a light spray is all that's needed to reafix it. Also minor bubbles trapped during application usually disappear when cured.
Dry skins are harder to peel back and are prone to catching bubbles when trying to reapply them.
