can't get to settings

Have had this for a week and seemed ok - did software update yesterday

 

today I tried to connect bluetooth device - can open settings - it opens on screen menu - no touch controls work whatsoever, including select another item on list or change a screen setting

 

after software update I am sure I looked at the settings and about to verify version - but no luck today

 

battery 1/2 charged, but I connected to recharge anyway and touch no good here either

 

can close the window and other touch controls work, just none on settings screen

at suggestion of son who has ipod touch - reboot - he was right - that solved it!  Oh no - another version of Windows!!!
