Please, be polite. No need for that here.

Try this, while connected to your charger. Press and hold the Power key, up and down volume (-/+) all three buttons simultaneously, for about 10-12 seconds. You should the red LED blink and that should allow a reset of the PlayBook and to power up.

Now, make your WiFi connection and try the update again.

Re: playbook wont connect to the update server

i keep trying it, but it just turns off and then i load it again but instead of a reset it jsut goes straight to the update screen which then just shows the same message :/

Re: playbook wont connect to the update server

OK, so to be perfectly clear, is error message you get when you're trying to update the OS?

Or just in connecting to the internet through PlayBook browser.

I am not sure which you mean.

Re: playbook wont connect to the update server

Download latest BB desktop manager
Call customer support  (need to register on line first with your device serial number) this is what they advised
Power off playbook (hold down power button until 'turn off' / 'restart' buttons appear--choose turn off'
Open desk top manager (it will ask you to connect to your device' via usb cable
Connect your playbook to desktop
Do not let playbook turn itself on when connected (hold down power button when a red power light appear on it)
You will get error message on BB desktop manager ' can not connect to device; with an option to 'update'
This message takes a few tries to get and does not stay for long so you need to be quick
Choose 'update' on this error message pop up window
It will update via BB desktop manager. The process is slow compared to over the air method
