BlackBerry Push Development

Push Access Protocol application fails to deliver pushed data

by Retired ‎02-17-2010 02:00 PM - edited ‎02-18-2010 05:03 PM (3,807 Views)

Summary

This article applies to the following:

  • BlackBerry Mobile Data System™ (BlackBerry MDS™) 4.1 and later
  • BlackBerry® wireless device

Description

By default, BlackBerry MDS Connection Service 4.1 delivers Push Access Protocol (PAP) content to BlackBerry Browser port 7874. To specify a different port for all recipient addresses in a submission, a push initiator must include the X-Rim-Push-Dest-Port header with the port value.

Recipient addresses including the port are accepted; however, the port value is ignored.

If the X-Rim-Push-Dest-Port is not specified, the push content might not be delivered to the application because it will be sent to port 7874 on the BlackBerry device.

Note: This applies only to PAP push. It does not apply to RIM® push.
