BB Q10: BBM & BB Protect is unable to connect via wireless network

Hello,

I've tried to use my BB on Ukrainian Utel 3G network, so I've disabled WI-Fi and sent device registration request and got it registered via BB NOC (I've got '3G' in the wireless network status icon).

Everything(WEBbrowsing, mail sending\receiving, Skype calls, etc.) went good except the BBM and BB protect.

BBM messages just stuck in the sending state and BB protect is unable to connect to the remote servers.

Everything was fine when I've enabled Wi-Fi back.

I've checked my wireless network IP & it was: 37.52.232.38.

What is the root cause of such behaviour?

Thank you.

Re: BB Q10: BBM & BB Protect is unable to connect via wireless network

Hello,

does anybody knows about this something?

BBRY claims that BBM and other services should work on any carrier but it's not true according to what I've.

Thank you.

Hello,

I've twitted to BBHelp on this matter and they're keeping silence.

Maybe there is some kind of FAQ on the BB 10 services?

Thank you.

Re: BB Q10: BBM & BB Protect is unable to connect via wireless network

Hello,

I've checked many threads here and it seems like I've got some clarification. BBM and BlackBerry protect will work only with carrier which is BBRY partner. That is a **bleep**.

Thank you.

st41ker, On your Manage Connections screen, click on the Services Status.
What is the status of the BlackBerry Internet Service?

OH, ok , i looed at your profile here, says "9860".

So, do you have the BlackBerry logo on the top by the signal bar indicator?

Re: BB Q10: BBM & BB Protect is unable to connect via wireless network

Hello,

my profile contains two devices: 9860 and q10.

Anyway, I've BB logo only when I have my home Wi-Fi connected.

In the case, when Wi-Fi is disabled I've only '3G' (not '3g') icon in the network status bar, at the top of screent.

Just to clarify the situation: I've no BIS with my cell carrier. Just simple 3G internet plan. And this carrier has no contract with BBRY. It provides "plain" internet via UMTS.

Thank you,

Re: BB Q10: BBM & BB Protect is unable to connect via wireless network

You don't need a BIS plan on Q10 and BB10 models.

So, you should be good while out and about, perhaps you need to edit your APN setting.

Go to Settings > Network > Mobile Network. At the bottom of the screen touch APN settings and place "blackberry.net" in the appropriate field.

Re: BB Q10: BBM & BB Protect is unable to connect via wireless network

Hello,

my carrier has it's own APN: 3g.utel.ua.

Ok, I've set 'blackberry.net' instead. Then I've got warning regarding AP security after which wireless internet was disconnected (I've '3g' sign in the network status bar).

Even after I've rebooted the device - I've no internet (web-browsing, IMAP mail) with blackberry.net APN set.

Are you sure that BBM can work on any carrier?

Thank you.
