Re: BlackBerry Protect for BB Q10

Hi!

One more question:

Yesterday my BB 9900 was damaged beyond repair. All information in it is lost. The only place where there is a backup of the info from the phone is BlackBerry Protect. Today I bought a new Q10. It registered to the same user in BB Protect. I thought it could be transferred to the stored copy info from the old (BB 9900) to the new (Q10) by BB Protect. Is it possible and how to do it?

Regards!

Nikolay

Re: BlackBerry Protect for BB Q10

Ouch, you have no backup on your PC?

Can you get another OS 7 BlackBerry, if only temporarily?

Re: BlackBerry Protect for BB Q10

BlackBerry Protect can be used to track or wipe a BB10 device but not to restore data to one; this latter feature is available for devices running OS 7.1 and earlier. If Protect is the only place you backed up your 9900, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Re: BlackBerry Protect for BB Q10

You didn't answer my question, but if you have a friend with an unused OS6/7 BlackBerry, then:

  • Put your SIM card in the unused BlackBerry, connect it with your BBID.
  • Restore YOUR Protect backup to this OS6/7 device.
  • Use the PC with BlackBerry Desktop Software installed to do a full backup.
  • Remove your SIM and insert into the new Q10.
  • Use the PC > BlackBerry Link software to restore that legacy backup to your Q10.

Re: BlackBerry Protect for BB Q10

No-no-no.
If you have your 9900 backup via BlackBerry protect, you are fine. You can transfer from your protect to your new Q10.
Drag down your settings. BlackBerry Protect comes installed on OS10. It will have a restore option for a one time restore. It will give you the list of devices for which you have a BlackBerry Protect backup. Select the backup and go. You just wait a few minutes and all your backup protection is done.
Presto - whamo - bingo.

Re: BlackBerry Protect for BB Q10

No-no-no, you can't restore a BB10 phone using Protect.

Go with the suggestion given by @JSanders. Smiley Happy
