Caldav VTODO Support

Hi

Does anybody know, how to setup a Caldav tasks account. I.e.. how to sync the VTODOs with the remember app?

Cheers

Re: Caldav VTODO Support

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Please note this KB:

  • KB30038 Available contact and calendar synchronization features on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry 10 smartphone

As you can see, Tasks are not supported. But, not knowing what you mean by VTODO, I'm not quite sure what to advise as a workaround. With BES10, I believe that the Outlook Tasks will sync with the device. But, otherwise, I do not believe that any task sync capabilities exist. Via Evernote, you can sync between your PC and your BB10 device, but I'm not sure that's quite what you are looking for...

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Caldav VTODO Support

Hello sdgardne

thank's for your reply and sorry for my fuzzy question.

According to RFC 4791 Caldav consists of components like VEVENT, VJOURNAL, VFREEBUSY and the one I'm looking for VTODO.

Since you can setup an CALDAV account, I was expecting that all the components from RFC 4791 are supported.

Do you know, whether those will be supported in any future release?

Regards

Re: Caldav VTODO Support

Beyond formal public statements made by authorized BlackBerry officials, I have no visibility into the future of what may or may not be offered by BlackBerry as time progresses. Indeed, no one here, on this user-to-user community, would have such forward looking information...and, even if they did, the would likely be specifically enjoined from revealing it ("NDA", "proprietary information", etc.).

Good luck!

Re: Caldav VTODO Support

[ Edited ]

Hello

I am myself using Fruux ( http://www.fruux.com ) as a CARDDAV/CALDAV provider and like you, I was very disapointed by the lack of support for synchronising tasks (in my opinion contacts, calendars and tasks is what a smartphone is about, plus telephony of course, everything else being just icing on the cake ...).

I avoided buying a W8 phone because of the lack of CALDAV/CARDDAV support, I avoided Android because that support is not native, I avoided IOS because I feel like I am already giving too much money to Apple ... and I waited a long time for my Z10 because I liked the device and it was said to support natively these protocols ...

I had long discussions with Fruux support about this (they did support BB10 from almost the beginning) and they say there is nothing they can do, BB10 is just lacking an app capable of displaying tasks :-(

I even contacted the maker of Workahol, ( http://workaholapp.com ) to see if he could consider this feature, the Fruux developper he could even setup a free test account for him ... no news so far ... but I have to give it a test. The "Remember" app is native but does not seem to be quite up to the problem, anyway without syncing it's a no-go.

It is really sad because BB10 is presenting itself as a business device  ... and todos are usually the core of business !! Once again, Apple is showing the way to everybody (you noticed I have a kind of hate/love relationship with Apple ...), I am not yet considering switching back (I don't like replacing costly devices every other month), but somtimes I feel like I should.

Re: Caldav VTODO Support

And btw, this thread should not be in the Q10 category, but maybe in some more general one, as it relates to BB10 globally.
