EE charges for smiley faces in texts on Q10!

Found out today that EE considers smiley faces a photograph when sending texts on Blackberry Q10.  So beware Q10 EE users you might get charged for photographs!

EE is lying to you. Or has the issue confused.

Re: EE charges for smiley faces in texts on Q10!

I was charged £13.20 for photo messages @ £0.33 each.  I only sent two photos.  Could not count how many smiley faces I sent (not many... not my type of thing) as the latest Q10 operating software upgrade has wiped all my texts (infuriated about it ... apparently known problem).

EE have credited and are phoning me in a month's time when new bill in so that they can run through each photo message charge against time/date of text messages sent so that can compare content.

Will see what that brings!  Checked my settings that Q10 was texting SMS and not MMS and all was fine.  Perhaps the smiley faces deemed photographs and are charged on MMS??

Yep that's what I thought.  That's what they said.  Will report back as to what happens when they call me next month.  I had £3.96 charges for photo messages the month before and did not think much of it although I rarely send photographs.  When I got the £13.20 bill that was a different matter.  They have confimed that there are photo message charges on my account for new billing month already.

Do you use any Group SMS conversations on your Q10?
