Re: Edit Auto Text

It's called Word Completion on BB10...

To customize Word Substitution on a BlackBerry 10 smartphone:

  1. Tap Settings followed by Language and Input
  2. Tap Prediction and Correction and then Word Substitution
  3. Tap Add a Shortcut at the bottom of the screen
  4. Enter your shortcut text in the first block, followed by the replacement text in the second field

Re: Edit Auto Text

[ Edited ]

Hello,

When I type "Dad" on my Q10 it comes up, almost without fail, as "DD". Worse still, I can't seem to find it in the list of preexisting substitution words. I've tried adding in my own substitution ("Dad" = "Dad") but nothing seems to work.

Any idea how to remove a term that the BB keeps inserting?

Thanks!

Re: Edit Auto Text

Make sure you you do not accept the "DD" suggestion for a while and it should go away, or make sure you DO accept the correct "Dad" suggestion and it will begin to suggest that one more often.

Re: Edit Auto Text

Hello,
Thanks for the quick reply. It's weird but it doesn't come up as a suggested word - it changes out the 'a' for a 'D' and then makes suggestions for alternatives to 'DD' (like Dr, D, and DO). I can't avoid accepting the correction because it happens before the predictive text occurs.

I appreciate the assistance!

Re: Edit Auto Text

Are you seeing this DD on the space bar in green, or in the keyboard in white?

Re: Edit Auto Text

In the keyboard. The substitution occurs before I can decline it; only after writing 'DD' does it make some suggestions for other words I might mean. I can't figure out how to 'train' it otherwise.

Re: Edit Auto Text

Ignore it. If you type "Dad" and the keyboard above (in white) suggests "DD", don't swipe up on that suggestion. Just tap your space key and it will enter "Dad".
