Master reset taking a long time

I've had a few problems with my Q10 and my network provider advised the only course of action was a master reset. I followed the below steps but despite some reports of it taking 15 mins my phone has been sitting there with an icon and rotationg blue circle for well over an hour. Any ideas?

Procedure followed:

It's easy to perform a master reset on your BlackBerry Q10, just follow these simple steps.

  1. From the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings, and then tap Security and Privacy.
  3. Tap Security Wipe, then enter "blackberry" in the box provided and tap Delete Data.
  4. The device will now be reset back to factory settings.

Re: Master reset taking a long time

An hour is not abnormal especially if you had much media or applications intalled on the device.

Give it three hours max, if it is still there, then pull the battery, wait five minutes and reinsert.

Re: Master reset taking a long time

It was over two hours when it finished the process, it now seems to be booting up OK. Once it's back to factory settings I presume I should load up the latest operating software before restoring my files. Does everything come back? I suppose I'll find out soon enough...

I'm glad I just let it run, thanks!

Re: Master reset taking a long time

You're only doing a security wipe, the OS you last had installed will still be installed.

Re: Master reset taking a long time

I'm hoping it will fix my calendar problem, maybe it wasn't drastic enough?

Re: Master reset taking a long time

It wouldn't accept and appointments (or at least show them) and lost all the old appointments. The wipe fixed it but a long old process. By the way I did need to update the operating software as the whone reverted to the factort issue OS after the wipe. It's all working OK now, so far, so good...

Re: Master reset taking a long time

Good morning,

I used the master reset about 7 hours ago and its still showing the screen with what looks like a scrub brush and the small circle that goes around and around.  i took out the battery as i saw someone else had a similar problem and it went right back to the screen with the scrub brush looking icon and the small circle going around and around.  what should i do now?

Wait... be patient. If you had a large amount of data and/or encryption set on your Z10 device data, it can take 12-15 hours.
