No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

I have my contacts sorted in Outlook by Category.  Cannot find this field on the Q10 - any other way of filtering contacts on the Q10?

Re: No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

Hi heathiemj,

The category feature is not currently available on the BlackBerry Q10, however, you can add contacts to the Favorites section. Hold your finger on the contact, then choose the Star icon from the side menu to add to Favorites. You can then access favorites but touching the icon in the lower left corner of the address book.

Thanks.

Re: No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

Thanks but not really a solution since I used the facility to manage/identify large lists. Hope BlackBerry will reinstate. Appreciate your help & will live in hope!

Re: No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

I have been trying to synch my Outlook with Google Apps email contacts as they allow categories of contacts but it's been brutal and I don't know yet whether these same categories will show up on the Q10

Re: No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

Hope it works! Don't think that's an option as mine are Exchange. Hope BB make categories available in due course for Q10.

Re: No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

My category field in MS Outlook contacts no longer has an equivalent field in OS10 contacts to latch/sync with, so they keep dropping out from their respective category in Outlook after I view or edit them on my Z10. This worked perfectly on my Bold 9900. Is this an oversight in OS10 ?? Would love to hear comments or explanations from experienced BlackBerry Tech Specialists or forum administrators.

Re: No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

Agreed, not an acceptable workaround solution as this worked perfectly on both my Bold 9700 and 9900. Sounds more like an oversight than anything. Hopefully this gets fixed, otherwise can't use this phone effectively any more.

Re: No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

I bought  a Z10 on release day and returned two days later when I discovered, like you that the BB10 software does not have a catesgory field .  What's worse is that , when I edited a contact on the Z10 it would strip all category information from the contact in Outlook.  Are you kidding me?   First, I can't understand why they would take this basic feature out.  I'm in sales.  Blackberry is for business people right?  I've had a blackberry for almost 10 years. How am I supposed to quickly look up my active clients, past clients, attorney clients?  Until they fix this, Blackberry is dead to me.

Re: No Categories field on Q10 in Contacts

Here's the explanation.  They told every loyal Blackbery user to go F themselves, and built their version of the iPhone.  They should have called it a bPhone.  Shameful.
