In a dark environment the screen dims so much that reading text on a white background is terrible. Is there a going to be an update to stop the auto brightness feature?

Auto-dimmer is definitely the culprit (proved this in software) - now, hopefully BlackBerry will provide an option to disable that in a future release!

I agree. The screen brightness on the q10 is WAY TOO DIM. Please give us the following:
Turn off auto brightness
Turn the brightness level up beyond what is currently allowed
I know this is software related. I sideloaded a kindle app, and went into the app, and I was able to crank the brightness way up. When I exited out of the kindle app, it stayed bright for about 5 seconds, and then went back to the normal dim screen.
Blackberry, please listen!!!
