Not enough free space for software update

Hi,

 

Appologies if this has already been discussed.

 

I'm unable to install to software update 10.2 as i dont have enough memory.

 

Device - Q5

Device Storage 7.3GB of 8GB used (7.3GB is used as other data)\

Media Card 0.1GB of 14GB used

 

I have removed basically everything from phone except facebook and twitter, i've cleared browser history, cookies, messages, games etc, yet i still cant seem to reduce the "other data"

 

Appreciate if someone could shed some light on it for me.

Yes it is true you may need to transfers some of your files over to the MEDIA CARD.

Has your Device is FULL in your first post.

Hi thank you for your reply.

 

The problem i have is that i dont actually have any apps (except facebook and twitter) on my phone.  the other apps are what were originally on the phone therefore i dosnt let me transfer them to memory card.

 

Anything else such as pictures, videos, music etc i have already deleted.

 

Basically "other data" seems to high yet there is no explanation why it is.

i restored my device and it worked my other data has reduced by half....

however, next problem :-)

when near the end of updating software to 10.2 i get the message "Software update encountered an error"

Then basically says a fatal error occurred.

I've tried again without sim card, phone restart, computer restart etc etc....

starting to feel this phone ani were not meant to be

can anyone help

The problem before was you had too much apps installed correct?

Now the issue is that you tried to update but receiving that error? Did you interrupted the installation process?

right you lot will be sick of me but i seem to be getting problem after problem.

 

ok so i finallly fixed the other data issue, then i managed to install the software update to 10.2.

 

now the problem i face is when i open my camera it says "this application doesnt have permission to access the camera"

 

losing patience with the Q5.... thank for help on the other problems and appreciate anyone who can help with this one.

I have the same issues, I transferred most of files to my media storage card then deleted some apps and I went from 6.9GB used to 7.6GB used on my device storage. How do I move forward?

I have deleted everything on the device memory, yet the used space is yet to go down. The properties shows that it is used up by "other data". What is the "Other data" and how can it be deleted.

 

And please dont ask me to reset the device, because I feel its a dumb way of solving a problem. 

 

PS: I have only the default apps installed.
